"It seems as though the best practice here is setting you default size, and later using javascript to resize the .swf object itself rather than using the 100% width and 100% tall / resizing container trick."

How do you do this if you are using swfObject as well?

I've created a solution that works in FF, IE7 and IE6.

It seems as though the best practice here is setting you default size, and later using javascript to resize the .swf object itself rather than using the 100% width and 100% tall / resizing container trick.

Basically, the browser will automatically resize the div based on its content, so changing the .swf object works perfectly to optimize your browsers' content regions.

Cheers!

I experienced resize problem, but seems not as yours. "Mustard Lab"' code doesnot work after changing configuration to flash8+actionscript2.0, seems caused by sandbox?

Just today I experienced the same problem in IE, using a XHTML doctype, just wouldn't let me resize the swf. But instead of changing the doctype to HTML4, I'm just resizing both, the object tag and the containing div tag.
